Hope renovations Christchurch 2001

A painter and her children needed to expand this classic cottage in Christchurch to take in the garage for her studio and a top storey added to accommodate three bedrooms and an ensuite.

I made the paper model to show how the volumes were to be connected.  A bathroom in the form of a cube was cantilevered on the street frontage and partly rotated to face the old cottage.  New rusticated weatherboards match the old and the return walls are corrugated iron.
